Sail Canada Basic Cruising/Basic Crew Standard Certificate

The objective of this course is for you to be able to cruise safely, by day, in familiar waters either as skipper or as crew, of a sloop-rigged keelboat of 6 to 10 metres, in moderate wind and sea conditions. This course is taught evenings and/or weekends on the Ottawa River, and includes teaching of both theory and practical skills. The only prerequisite is that you have joined the Summer of Sailing in Aylmer Program (or a Combined Program).  There are additional fees over and above the rate for the Summer of Sailing in Aylmer Program or Combined Program.  Completion of the course, coupled with more extensive experience as a “skipper-in-training” could lead to qualification as a GBSC skipper for those interested.   See Appendix 1 of the Registration Form for cost details.
